End Of Another Chapter
I'm leaving this bird rescue center I live in by the beginning of February. For most of my time here I have enjoyed the work, the responsibility, and the feeling of accomplishment when I do anything that helps a fellow creature. But I am no longer needed, and have become redundant. With an expert mechanic, carpenter, and painter here, all I do now is mow the yard and feed birds. A new person will be in charge, and we are not compatible. One factor is that I do not identify with birds the way all the others here do, I am strictly Order Mammalia as far as animal empathy goes. Of course that does not mean living things, any living thing, does not matter but I don't get worked up with a sense of mission and purpose re. avians. If it was up to me we would not take in seagulls, horrible creatures although beautiful. All birds are the remnants of the dinosaurs and most of them have the disposition of the same. I like Jerry the Goose, he's impossible not to like.
I have a lot more to say but I will finish this when I'm gone from here. The above is Tommy the Cat, I had him vaccinated and have been feeding him for a year. Tommy is an outdoor cat and it will be impossible for me to bring him with me, I'll be moving back into our old house and it's surrounded by roads. I took in one cat, Smokey, and had him neutered and vaxxed, he is, was, also an outdoor cat and he left months ago and I've not seen him since. Tommy was full grown when we met so surviving without me won't be too much trouble. This breaks my heart but it's a decision that I have not made lightly. My only question is whether I should put his vax tag on him, he has already lost two breakaway collars and I really don't like the idea of fitting him with a leather collar to hold the tag. So, in addition to my annoyance at what this job became I have a lot of guilt of about this cat. Cats are...precious to me.
I'll be buying a house out in the country, or at least land, so perhaps I can get Tommy and bring him home.
Frigatebird. God sure liked making bizarre creatures, yes he did.
