A Startled Rabbit

Billy had the wife of an old friend over when she announced that she was getting a divorce. Took him by surprise, like.

Roachmill

Image
Roachmill came out in 1986.  He is an Exterminator, a licensed killer in a world a thousand years from now that looks just like ours only more primitive.  The Earth is home to many alien races, and the Exterminators arose after the police could not deal with the Alien Riots.  Roachmill is a human/alien hybrid, with a pair of cockroach like arms that end in hands.  Akin to Judge Dredd in artwork and theme, this did not go further than 1990 or so.  But read the next page well -  Looks like these guys predicted the rise of a certain someone as a reality show host.  Roachmill and his hapless rival, Zoo Lou.  Zoo Lou has the attributes of a Warner's cartoon rabbit, he can't be killed and once had to be blown up with an air pump.  He is also real stupid. This is Ms. October, a genetic misjudgement.  The last issue reveals that she was part of a movie being filmed, although it wasn't.  Roachmill has a few continuity problems. He never knew h

No Illusions Day

Because I don't talk to anyone about what bothers me, I keep things to myself.  I don't talk to many at all.  I always wished I had a friend I could open up to.  And if I can't open up to someone, they are not a friend.  This was going to have an apple and a snake in it, but I decided that was as meaningless as it is now.  In this picture, the rabbit standing is not there.  This is Billy wishing he knew someone like himself.  There is no one like Billy and he has known that his entire life.  This is a tableaux of vain desire and false hope realized. Hell is going to be much, much worse.

Prelude To Fun!

Outdoor sex is on of the perks that the Rabbits enjoy.  Creatures with a fur covered skin have no concept of nudity, only wearing clothing in more formal situations.  Besides, there are no nude beaches in Texas, something that has to be explained hourly on Padre Island.  For humans, that is.  Underpeople wear clothes when working around dangerous things, although the males usually will wear some kind of shorts in order to keep everyone interested.  There is a nude 'beach' in Austin, Hippy Hollow, but it is a flabby middle aged nightmare avoided by those of taste or with families.  Rabbits, of course, do not categorize sexual activity. Bunnies, and in this case one cat, are no more put off by alfresco fucking than we would be watching a softball game, fully clothed.  Any cops sent to break this up would enthusiastically join in, although they would keep their leather on.  A policeman, or woman, is never off duty. Billy's cigarette is about to burn down to his fing

Frank Hits A Home Run!

Probably the most widely known fantasy artist in the United States, and maybe the world, Frank Fazetta started paid comic art at age 15.  The following was drawn by him when he was doing funny animal art for Standard Comics.  It came out July 1st, 1949.  Frank was 21 years old. Happy Comics, I don't know who did the cover. At this stage he signed his work 'Fritz'. I have spent the last seven years trying to draw cartoon rabbits. At his age I was the dumbest guy like, ever.  I even thought I was going to be an artist. Had I managed to wangle a job doing anything around the comic industry I would have dropped out of whatever school I was in. Superior talent. 21 years old.  And, -  he kept going. By "kept going" I meant his sci/fi fantasy work, which holds it's own even against someone like Wally Wood. Famous Funnies # 214.  Famous Funnies was the first comic book as such.  November, 1954.  Fra

My brother took this superb photo of the street we live on a couple three days ago. https://www.instagram.com/_livingdog/ And now for something completely different: Oooooh, kitties!  This is signed Frazetta.  Who could that be? The Lie Of Sinning would work just as well with this artwork. https://old-time-religion.blogspot.com/2016/10/old-time-religion-sin-of-lying-by-elder.html Wally Wood, September 1954.  This has A Sound Of Thunder illustrated by Al Williamson in it, and a letter to the editor from Ray Bradbury.  A combination of two failed comics, this ran for 7 issues.  For the last issue Bill Gaines bought the rights but not the art from a rejected Buck Roger's cover for Famous Funnies, considered too violent.  Many think this is the greatest comic cover of all time. It's up there, I will give it that.  But this is the greatest comic cover of all time- Johnny Craig, one of the covers that doomed EC.  I see t
