Some More Random Stuff

This is by Christian Northeast. This is drawn by the amazing Sveta Shubina of New Zealand. https://velvetd.com/retro-art-sveta-shubina/ Probably from the seventies, and probably Marvel.  Drawn by one of the usual suspects. Speaking of which, Al Feldstein.  Vault of Horror or some other piece of shit. Fuck, this is bad.  No idea who, when, or what.  Who cares? Bob Burden's Flaming Carrot, being followed by Herbie.  Herbie was a very bad comic drawn by the washed up Ogden Whitney.  Ron Goulart really likes him. No one knows when he died or where he is buried.  He was a fat alcoholic in the days leading to his death.  Had a great apartment on 5th Avenue that is still there.  A shame.  Once at the top of his game. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ogden_Whitney The right hand panel are the Mystery Men, also by Burden.  The mo...

Me and Duke, 1974.  I used to hate my soft, curly hair.  Duke was a great dog, as most of them are.  I read Jack London a lot so the lumberjack shirts were a thing with me.  I cannot for the life of me fathom why I thought I was unattractive.  But what man despises the gods take away.  Nowadays I comb my hair with a razor! John Severin. Manfred Pernass, about to die.  Caught wearing American uniform during the battle of the Bulge.  This is one of Otto Skorzeny's men, and he was tried for this stunt of his after the war.  He was acquitted after several Allied officers testified that they had done the same thing.  Note - get caught and get shot. Tod Schorr Artist unknown.  Let's play Happy Families! 1922, unknown artist. Stephen Mackey Chuck Jones.  Yes, the Chuck Jones. Piotr Jablonski Nicponim https:...

I must be the worst guitar student like, ever.  I love them so but I have so much trouble with it.  This is an old drawing that shows promise but no more.  The boots were my best thrift shop find.  I got them on my birthday 4 years ago.  I have nothing going on but lawn mowing today.  I am in despair over my inabilities.   https://randyhand.deviantart.com/ Check this guy out.  Two words- Un Real!

I Get No Respect!

The big birds around here are pushy and fearless.  I am always having to deal with pelicans looking for a handout.  On Town Lake in Austin, the ducks and geese and swans will mob you and peck you if you are slow with the eats. Here the birds just land next to you and stare.  Yesterday a crane stopped traffic while he crapped in the road.   I just thought you guys would want to know. https://youtu.be/WIfcKy-VcXo Harry Roy and his Bat Club Boys. A lagniappe, as it were.

Treasure!

When the hurricane hit, a tool shed on my new property collapsed.  As I was dumping more boards and shingles on the heap, I discovered a bunch of old tools in the wreckage.  I got a complete meat grinder and a functional high grade brace and bit.  I also stepped on a nail and fell into a thorn bush.  I got a tetanus shot which I should have done the moment I started working with that old pile of wood and rusty nails.  The shed is full of things, I have not gone through it fully yet, but if I get even one more good tool out of it the trouble of moving all that wood will make this a real find. I have never seen so many pictures of saints, crucifixes, and rosarys.  I am going to restore the Virgin Mary birdbath.  It has a dozen coats of white latex housepaint and is covered with lichen.  I think I will give it a wirebrushing and paint her like some icon.  I hope I don't start a pilgrimage craze!

Time To Write A Wrong

Comrade Ogilvy       I have always admired Winston Smith's creation of Comrade Ogilvy, an unusually fanatic party man who's entire life was dedicated to promulgating Ingsoc and the thorough and final elimination of thought criminals.  The article he is replacing is extremely unsatisfactory and makes references to unpersons.  As a child, Comrad Ogilvy refused all toys except for a helicopter, a machine gun, and a drum.  He joined the Spies at the age of six by a special relaxation of the rules.   Ogilvy denounced his uncle to the Thought Police at age 11.  At 19 he designed a grenade that that killed 31 Eurasian prisoners in one burst.  He doesn't smoke or drink.  At the age of 23 he was flying dispatches over the Indian Ocean when attacked by enemy jet fighters.  Comrade Ogilvy weighs himself down with a machine gun, grabs the dispatches and jumps from his helicopter into the ocean.  An end, Winston reports Big Brot...
