Danger Rabbit!

Image
This is as far as I got with my faux comic idea, Danger Rabbit!  I based Danger's look on Pat Dempsey, Man O'Metal, a truly retarded golden age superhero concept.  When Pat has a bucket of molten iron drop on him, he is transformed into an unstoppable white hot metal man, blue in color.  As such he only wears shoes and blue jeans.  Billy usually goes barefoot or in saddle shoes.  Here he is saving some cat kid.  In my version of the furry world species do not willingly mix.  All the Clans feel superior to all the others.   Billy is at the low end of anyone's social structure.  His lack of status just makes him more despised and hated.  Rabbits that fight make everyone uneasy, particularly Carns. Reg'lar Fellers Heroic Comics November 1941 Artist, H. G. Peter.  Brought Wonder Woman to the world.  His early newspaper work shows genuine talent.  More "Danger Rabbit" to come.  Stay t...

Jump, Again!

Image
So today, down at our clueless thrift store, I found a book of Brer Rabbit stories called Jump, Again!  This is from a series of books written by Van Dyke Parks and illustrated by Barry Moser.  I was a little disappointed by Mr. Moser's anthro illustrations, I found them a tad wooden.  Barry Moser is one of the greats so this hardly is criticism.  But Mr. Moser did have this picture on the cover of the book, and this is really something. Nice, huh?  Bet your ass this is nice.  What a superior furry!  Eatonton, Georgia.  Stolen in 2010, he is missing his pipe and his ear has been repaired.  There is another one at the nearby Uncle Remus Museum. A.B. Frost Virginio Livraghi   Artist unknown, but a delightful work!  Published by Birn Bros. 1948. Brer Rabbit goes fishing, Harry Rountree. A.B. Frost, Brer Rabbit And Brer Wolf. With Brer ...

And How Do You Like Your Blue Eyed Boy, Mister Death?

Image
August 24 1964.  Clearlake, California. Boxers and tugboat deckhands, the three members of the Johnny Burnette Trio were all Golden Glove champions.  This is an incredibly perfect background on the part of these guys.  Lot o' macho here.  Never mind being able to play on stringed instruments, an incredible thing to me to start with, but these guys are just as Rockbilly as they could get.  Johnny sang and played acoustic, Dorsey Burnette played bass, and Paul Burlison the electric guitar.   May 7th, 1956.  Pythian Temple, New York The Trio.  Paul Burlison, Navy veteran, is, was, one of the great electric guitar players.  Is it "is" or "was"?  These guys quarreled a lot and split up several times but they sure were good.  The night of  Aug. 24 1964 Johnny was out in a small boat fishing when he was run down by a cabin cruiser.  I can find nothing else on this.  Johnny was throw...

Here Beatrix Potter predicts the coming of the Fierce, Bad Rabbit. Behold the prophesy fulfilled!

Oscar Martin

Image
Oscar Martin has drawn Tom and Jerry since '86.  Wow.  I thought that was over in the 1950's. Not exactly shabby. Tight. Skill on display. Some people are just superior at what they like to do. Spain produces some really fantastic artists! Tip - top. His comic points the way. Why is the best comic book art coming out of Spain?  Between this guy and Juanjo Guarnido they have a lockhold on talent! See what I mean? Well, Hell.  I would say that I should just draw for my own pleasure but I don't like to draw for pleasure, but attention. Really, the things I have to put up with!
