The Two Tonys
Dec. 11th, 1950. Sam Rummel, mob lawyer, is assassinated as he walks up to his house in tony, that's a joke, Laurel Canyon.
A shotgun is found at the scene. It is eventually traced to Tony Brancato.
Bummer. August 6, 1951. Brancato and his partner, Anthony Trombino, were meeting someone to discuss a heist of some sort. They had recently robbed the Flamingo at gunpoint, gaining 3,500 dollars. Brancato did not wear a mask and was identified immediate like. The Flamingo, a known to every fucking body in the world as a heavy Outfit investment. What on earth they were doing back in L.A. after that argues that maybe they were not very savvy.
He and Tony Trombino are found dead in the frontseat of the same car.
On the flipside!
Jimmy "the Weasel: Frattiano confessed to the killings in his bio. Here he is with a close friend.
I am reading a book called L. A. Noir, by John Buntin. This is a must read. Organized crime vs. the LAPD, and the villains are on both sides of the fence.
