I Read This Poem In Tom Sawyer And Have Never Forgotten It
And, of course, my lack of experience torments me now and for always.
This is from the poem "Am I a Soldier of the Cross"? by Isaac Watts. My rendering above is approximate, to say the least. All these years and I have never looked this up, although I think these words almost every day.
And yes, that does say "Figt". Wessex dialect!

How doth the busy little bee,
Improve each shining hour
and gather honey all the day
from every opening flower!
