Time To Write A Wrong

Comrade Ogilvy

I have always admired Winston Smith's creation of Comrade Ogilvy, an unusually fanatic party man who's entire life was dedicated to promulgating Ingsoc and the thorough and final elimination of thought criminals.  The article he is replacing is extremely unsatisfactory and makes references to unpersons.
As a child, Comrad Ogilvy refused all toys except for a helicopter, a machine gun, and a drum.  He joined the Spies at the age of six by a special relaxation of the rules.   Ogilvy denounced his uncle to the Thought Police at age 11.  At 19 he designed a grenade that that killed 31 Eurasian prisoners in one burst.  He doesn't smoke or drink.  At the age of 23 he was flying dispatches over the Indian Ocean when attacked by enemy jet fighters.  Comrade Ogilvy weighs himself down with a machine gun, grabs the dispatches and jumps from his helicopter into the ocean.  An end, Winston reports Big Brother saying, impossible to contemplate without feelings of envy.  Winston considers awarding Ogilvy the Order of Conspicuous Merit, second class, but decides it would require too much cross-referencing.
I felt then the way I feel now, Comrades, Ogilvy deserves his medal!

I cannot find the actor portraying Ogilvy in this superior Michael Radford movie anywhere. Too bad, this is the greatest non-speaking non-moving role like, ever.

Big Brother is watching you.
