Boulevard Of Broken Dreams

Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Raw Magazine, Vol. 2, #3.  1991.  Kim and Simon Deitch.

Kim and Simon are the sons of famed animator Gene Deitch.  Kim has a lifetime of drawing old fashion Anthro cartoons.
Winsor Newton is based on Winsor McCay, and his Gertie the Dinosaur.  He would present the cartoon and give her commands that she obeyed, a mind-blower at the time.  Waldo is the re-incarnation of Judas Iscariot.  Waldo has at times claimed to have written the stories himself.  Oh, what a burden to be haunted by a cartoon character that only the artist can see!  Kim also inked much of Quasi At The Quackadero by Sally Cruikshank.

I saw this in the seventies at a midnight movie through a thick fog of marijuana smoke, very appropriate.

Nice to know that the old ways have not been forgotten.
