The Celebrated Living Dog, Preferred Over Dead Lions

A saguaro yearns, for hope overrides all physics, all reality.  What is life without a dream, anyway?  This is the equivalent of John Merrick's dressing case.  200 years in the same spot.  Imagine how insane the idea of travel is to a 6 ton cactus!  Like Thurber's moth trying to catch the moon, eventually he thought he had caught it and got great satisfaction in the memory.  As an elderly succulent this behemoth will astonish those around him with his tales of the cities of Man.  There is a generation of young, frustrated saguaro in the making.
This is by my brother.  He has changed his Instagram address to @_livingdog.  Fittingly enough, for I am a dead rabbit.

William Harnett, 1848 -92.

Another "livingdog" example.  Here I am trying to develop cartooning skills and he was born with 'em.  This will lead to a day of reckoning, believe you me!

He also sent this early Felix to me.  Oh, the halcyon days of childhood!

(My title for this entry is taken from Dog Soldiers, the book by Robert Stone.  The cowardly protagonist thinks this way about himself, while his very loyal friend, a genuine warrior, dies while doing the right thing).
