A Charming Poem
This delightful bit of rhyming is supposed to be a kid's nursery favorite, not that I ever heard it.
This is political satire concerning Richard III and his right hand men, Catesby, Ratcliffe and Lord Lovell, who had a silver dog on his arms.
Sir William Collingbourne wrote this and was executed for his saucy wit. He was hanged, cut down while still alive, castrated, and disemboweled. When the executioner reached into his stomach to pull out his organs, Sir William said,
"Oh Lord Jesus, yet more trouble"!
Richard is guilty of every crime he has been accused of.
