Carl Barks

Carl Barks worked as an animator for Disney, 1935 - 42.  Needing money for his failing chicken farm, he started illustrating Donald Duck stories for Western Publishing.  As usual, the Disney name was the only one on his work.  He soon became known as 'the good duck artist'.  When he retired from Western in 1966 he obtained a royalty free license from Disney to make these paintings.  His work inspired George Lucas and Steven Spielberg in the film Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Gold is where you find it, and in this case Mr. Barks found it in his artwork.

Incredible layout and storytelling ability.

Again!

Cinema meets the comics.

King Beowulf, 1978

How it was done.

'I hate snakes, Jock.  I hate 'em'!

Works for me.

It wasn't all ducks.

He wrote, drew and inked all these.

Donald with my fave Disney character.

When someone's work outlives them, that's all the monument needed.
