Rocky Marciano listens to Jersey Joe Walcott being counted out.  In the first round, the 38 year old Walcott knocked Rocky off his feet, the first knockdown the the Brockton Bomber had ever experienced.  For 12 more rounds the shorter and lighter man lost steadily in points to the aging but fantastically dangerous champion.  Rocky had the shortest reach of any of the heavyweight champions, and he was the smallest after Tommy Burns to hold the title.  In the film you can see Rocky jumping and trying to land punches on Jersey Joe, he misses a lot and takes brutal punishment while doing so.  Then in the 13th Rocky lands a single punch to Joe's chin, fight over. Marciano knocked out 3 heavyweight champions, Joe Louis, Jersey Joe Walcott (title match), and Ezzard Charles (title match).   Rocky has the best record of any gloved champion, 49 fights, 49 wins, and 43 knockouts.

This was one hell of a good fight.
