Another From Back In The Days Of Dreaming

My take on The Death Of Thomas Chatterton, by Henry Wallis. 1982.

The Death of Thomas Chatterton, 1856.  Henry Wallis.  Instant viral sensation.
The model is the young George Meredith.
So, did I show promise?

Our youth does us no good on the shoals of time, none whatsoever.

No good at all.

  1. When did you do this study? Very promising! I certainly could never have done that in my erstwhile youth! I was busy drawing unicorns and Pegasi. More importantly, why’d you stop?

I’m always hopeful that my youth will inform my middle and old age, but not define it. I’d really like to grow better— not younger, just a better human, a better lover, a better friend. Practice makes perfect, and all that rot! 🙂

An extraordinary statement, I could never have summed it up so well. I would talk for ten minutes and even I would not remember what I said. Thanks for the kind words about the drawing, I let the Sadness get me and gave up all pretensions of art.
