Biafra

Nigerian "soldiers" celebrate victory.  Did I say "soldiers"?  I meant "cannibals".  Africa below Egypt is a chaos nightmare, and it always will be.

The Biafra war claimed between half a million and 2 million lives, a huge amount of them children.  They were deliberately starved by Nigeria, and the West did exactly jack shit to help.

I was the same age as these kids, but I was a White American.  I had nothing to worry about.  This is kwashkior.  One jar of peanut butter every two weeks, and maybe a few crackers, would have kept these kids alive and healthy.  The ones that were not killed by mines or air strikes, of course.

England was in this up to their neck.  The current, excuse me, late queen was on the throne during this.

The British government advised that paying Biafra could undermine the goodwill of the Federal Government. Shell-BP made the payment, and the government established a blockade on oil exports. Forced to choose a side, Shell-BP and the British government threw in their lot with the Federal Government in Lagos, apparently calculating that this side would be more likely to win the war.

(Today's secret word is 'Complicit').

 How could this have happened?

We were busy keeping American Power Credible!  Fuck Vietnam, we should have thrown in on the side of Biafra, we might have been able to win that one.  Of course we would have had to come up with some leaders who were not complete fools, a tall order then as well as now.

Lt. Col. Rolf Steiner.  Led 4 Commando until the end - without pay.  French Foreign Legion, Katanga.  Lives in Munich.  A lot of white Europeans risked all to help Biafra.

Sometimes heroism is almost beyond credibility.   Von Rosen did not have a dog in this fight, and he lived and died like the lion he was.  What is the highest honor compared to a life like his?  Ribbons and metal mean nothing to God.

General Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.  A remarkable Nigerian who led the doomed struggle for Biafran independence.  Revered in Nigeria today.  Lived to be 78 against all odds.
